Story
My name is Clint. I was born and raised in Prince Rupert.
Fishing has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I spend most of my summers as a child fishing the shores of the skeena River as well as the stikine River with my grandparents on my mom's side both coming from aboriginal ancestry my grandmother was from hartly Bay and my grandfather from telegraph creek. They tought me to fish for food with a rod as well as a net but most with a rod for coho on the exchamsix River. They also tought me the cultural and spiritual side of fishing my grandmother would often say a prayer for the fish in her native tong sm'algyax ( the tsimshian language) she would pray for the fish to finish its journey up the river to spawn as she did this prayer she would return the cooked and eaten remain of the salmon back into the river it came from.
Learning the spiritual significance of fishing as well as the joy and excitement that came from it had me hooked young. My dad being mostly of European decent showed me the sports fishing side of angling along with my grandfather (on my dad's side) we would spend countless days on the ocean outside of prince rupert. My dad's family would come from all over the province to spend time and fish with my family.
Fishing is not just for entertainment or to provide food its a way of bring friends and family together and create cherished memories. Angling has been a passion of mine my entire life. Aurora coast adventures was created to show the world the wonders of the north coast and the connection the fishing has to the natural world. It has been and always will be a priority to make sure this resource is sustainable and accessible to future generations to enjoy the same way I did as a child.
I have spent my adult life perfecting my fishing abilities, I have guided for langara fishing lodge, north king lodge and haaneenaa lodge learning about fishing as well as the fishing industry. I have unknowingly been working towards this dream of giving people the opportunity to see and feel the beautiful north coast the way that I have for all these years and to pass on the knowledge that has been passed down to me by my parents and my grandparents.
